ISMS

While working with children and families in the Early Childhood Educational setting I expect respect, kindness, consideration, and willingness. My reasoning for expecting this is due to the fact that I pride myself and my classroom with these 4 behaviors. In order to provide a unique environment for each child that is individualized to meet his/her needs I have to make sure to consider the 4 behaviors at all times.

Emotionally if I experienced certain prejudices I would feel uncomfortable which often causes me to become withdrawn or shy.  When it comes to my students and families they are informed on day 1 of my rules, and expectations, and even consequences if these are not met. When I have experienced prejudices or stereotypes in my past with families I have always been successful and dealt with the problem and have worked it out, however last year I did seem to have an issue with a family whom may my entire school year difficult.

Because of this I know now that it impacted me cognitively and emotionally in my class when dealing with my students, families, and even co-workers. It was an extremely difficult year because of this family and their child, they were constantly challenging my authority, reasoning for lesson planning, daily activities, and even schedule.

I did speak to my principal and administrator and we eventually had a meeting to try and deal with the families stereotypes.
