I now know that there are many benefits in researching children such as: cures and everyone knowing the importance of preschool, the importance of play, how preschool positively affects our communities, also the issues that teachers have when teaching preschool children.
I learned that the researchers need to build a relationship with whom they are researching. For example: The kind of relationship that a researcher should have with children is being able to listen ,nurturing, respectful, and professional. “Listening to the children entailed listening to their different languages” (Mac Naughton, Rolfe & Siraj-Blatchford, 2010).
Researchers should be able to design activities that are
understandable to children, engage children, and the children should feel
comfortable with the researcher.
I feel that as Early Childhood Professionals we need to put out as much research in regards to children as possible, so that the public will realize the importance of Preschool, play, and the impacts of Early Childhood on the whole child and even society.
Tinka,
ReplyDeleteJust like you this course has taught me a lot in research. Just like any relationship develops, learning about research also requires development. It was very challenging for me this term to grasp research, variables, hypotheses, etc. However, I got through it and I am glad I am at the end, my brain needs a vacation. Although, I don't think I will use research much, it's good to know a little about it. Thank you for sharing and I wish you continued success in future classes.
Hi Tinka,
ReplyDeleteI agree that building and having sound relationships with, colleagues, families, children, and research participants are very important when conducting research. Growing up adults place little emphasis on the views of children but certainly through this course, we were able to see how important and crucial it is to respect the views and concerns of the young child. I see that through this course you can a strong appreciation for research and the many aspects of it. I have enjoyed working with you and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!! Good luck!!
Hi Tinka,
ReplyDeleteI think we all can agree on one common thing when it comes to research--CHALLENGING IT IS! But like you said, it lends itself to so much more (such as ways to improve the lives of our young children). In the end, we come to appreciate research and all that it offers. We have gained so much throughout this course and I'm sure it will come in handy as we continue to advance in the early childhood field. Thanks for all that you've shared throughout this course and I look forward to future courses with you! Now we can breathe again...see you soon! :) _Tynisha Thompkins
