With their high value on prenatal care and breast-feeding classes, Cuba is known to empower women and to encourage them to make their own decisions, and gives free healthcare to everyone. According to studies for "Every 150 people in a neighborhood there is 1 doctor". (Schnitger E., and Romero C.) (2003). Cuba's family policy allows for 2 children to be born per 1 woman and because of this birth control is given to everyone and is very much promoted.
When giving birth in Cuba in a maternity hospital with an obstetrician in a sanitary hospital that is disease free. Vaginal births are allowed to stay up to 3 days and cesarean births stay 8 days in the hospital. There is also the option of staying pre-birth and given good meals and care.
