How you would respond to a parent/family member who informed you they did not want anyone who is perceived (or self-reported) homosexual or transgender to be caring for, educating, and/or interacting with their child
In this type of situation I would let the parent know, our number one priority is the child, therefore teacher's and staff will not use their sexuality in anyway to influence their child's beliefs. Also that staff and teacher's are hired because of their knowledge, education, and experience, not their sexuality, it has no affect on their ability to teach, care for, or even to interact with children.
Your response to those who believe that early childhood centers should avoid the inclusion of books depicting gay or lesbian individuals such as same-sex partnered families
Personally I believe that this should be done by parents, it's their right to educate their child about these specific types of situations. Because I am a parent, I would like to personally be involved in educating my children about these types of families.
However I can understand why schools are educating students regarding these situation because these types of families are much more common than before. I don't feel it my right to judge these types of families, when at work it is my job to educate children making sure they are aware of social changes, and being able to accept these types of families, children, etc.
