The convention on the Right's of the Children-There are 650 delegates from 76 nations spending, 4 days sharing the same passion for children and their families. After reading the statement by Pamela Boulton,E.D., it amazes me that we are among the 2 countries that have not yet made the treaty to protect children's rights, "It is time to ask – intentionally and insistently – that our legislators ratify this convention and that we take our place among those who agree to promote and protect children’s best interests", Pamela Boulton,E.D.
What ideas/statements/resources made you think about an issue in new ways?
The Rights of Children in Children's Homes-This group caught my interest because my parents are foster parents, and personally I feel that children should be raised in their own homes by family members, however this is not the personal dynamics of all families, due to certain circumstances. Because of foster care and adoption agencies children who are not able to live with their birth families are cared for. This particular group represents 10 countries, giving trainings to foster parents.
What new insights about issues and trends in the early childhood field did you gain from exploring this website?
I found out that there are conventions about children's rights, that 76 nations meet, that the U.S. is among the second countries who have not passed the treaty to protect children's rights. Also I found out that there are groups that promote children being able to stay in their own homes and gives trainings to the families who take in children.
