ZERO TO THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ZERO TO THREE-Early Childhood Website-http://www.zerotothree.org/

Zero to Three National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families-www.zerotothree.org

“The first three years of life are a period of incredible growth in all areas of a baby’s development” (Zero to three), (2010). I chose this website because I feel Early Childhood Education is the foundation in a child’s life and on this website there are many topics and resources in all areas of Early Childhood Education.
The Purpose of Zero to Three Website:
Zero to three informs, trains, and supports professionals, families, and policy makers with children ages 0-3. Parents need to be informed and educated on the latest trends, laws, and the development of early childhood education. Professionals need to be able to find the latest information, policies, and laws pertaining to Early Childhood Education. Finally it is important that policy makers know of resources before making a decision. Because all of this is so important, the website Zero to Three is very informative and useful.
Structure of Zero to Three Website:
This website is structured in a very accessible way for everyone who is interested in Early Childhood Education. There are six tabs on the top of the page; home, behavior and development, maltreatment, care and education, public policy, about us, and a search tab. Underneath the search button, is a find it fast tab, divided into key topics. Below the search button is a baby brain and download of the week section. Underneath the Home tab is the mission statement, a donation tab, and a take action tab. Because of all the tabs that are listed there are many topics within each of these. Personally navigating on websites is a challenge for me, but this was easy to use and easily accessible. Another thing that impressed me about this website is becoming part of the email list. When getting on the list the following benefits: access to premium content, learn about early care and child development from leading experts, but only receive information on topics of interest.
Content of Zero to Three Website:
Although there is a wide range of information that is provided to readers, it is very specific pertaining to Early Childhood Education. This is not a flashy or fancy website, however the content of the information that is provided is informative and current. I’m going to provide you with the subjects that will be available under each tab.
·      Behavior and Development:  Brain Development, Challenging Behavior, Early Childhood Mental Health, Early Development, From Baby to Big Kid, Health and Nutrition, Mental Health Screening and Development, Promoting Social Emotional Development, Play, Sleep, and Temperament Behavior
·      Maltreatment: Child Abuse and Neglect, Safe Baby Court Terms, and Impact of Trauma
·      Care and Education: Childcare, Family Friend and Neighbor Care, School Readiness Interactive
·      Public Policy: Infant Toddler Policies, Building Early Childhood Systems, Federal Policy, State and Community Policy, Action Center, Policy Toolkit, and Webinars and Conference Calls
·      About us: Zero to Three’s Fact Sheet, Areas of Expertise, Funded Projects, Board and Management Team, Western Office, and Careers

Suggestions for Navigating on the Website: As I said before I’m challenged in the area of computers, so my recommendation would be to just click on each of the tabs and if something is interesting read it. Go through each tab so you will have an idea of all the subjects within Early Childhood Education that it is pertaining to. The two places I would go to first would be the home page and about us tab. I say this so you will know who is providing the information and what exactly the website is about. My final highlight or recommendation would be to enroll on the website so you can be informed of upcoming articles, webinars, conference calls etc.

  1. I agree Early Childhood is the base to a child's life. They learn so much in those four years, which can allow them to explore not only who they are, but others also. As educators we can never learn too much about early childhood and their education or behavior. In the younger years is when they are developed the most. Thank your for sharing.

  3. I have heard of 'ZERO TO THREE' before, but thanks for going more in-depth. I couldn't agree with you more that children learn so much during the first 3 years. Having a 2 yr old son, I will definitely start checking this website out. It seems to have a wealth of information that I'm sure I can benefit from as a parent, as well as a professional. :)
